Palawan: “The Top Island in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader Choice Awards
A well-deserved recognition from one of the prestigious reviewers, this award will make every Filipino proud. It so happened that many of us is not aware how beautiful our country is. I am so delighted by the beauty of this place and I will not trade this to experience of just shopping abroad. I can buy their stuffs here but I can’t find better beaches there that can match what we have here. – evha
“The spectacular view upon reaching the peak of mt. tapyas is awesome. Although I had countless panting and stopped over & over again finishing the steep stairs of about 742 steps, I will do the climbing again on my next visit just to see the whole Coron town from above.” — hannah
Recommended Islands to visit in Coron Palawan
1. Malcapuya and Banana Islands – they have pure white sands, the water is so clear and very refreshing, you can visit the whole island in less than 30 minutes but the whole experience is so remarkable.
2. Pass Island – For a not so expensive nipa hut accommodation, you can already experience a serene night sleep surrounded with sounds of nature, wondering what birds were tweeting, what kind of fish was flying and glowing in the dark, and then wake up with the beauty of sunrise surrounding the island. The air is so refreshing, the water is so calm and clear and the beach is enticing.
3. Kayangan lake – hidden in one of the islands in Coron is a clear lake. On your first visit, you should be ready to climb the very steep stairs to view this refreshing lake. The rock formations and mountains serve as the wall that enclosed this lagoon with deep and clear water. You will be amazed with the view from the top of this island down to the lake. This is one of the most photographed views in Coron.
4. Maquinit Hot Springs – this is located within the town of Coron. If you have experienced going to some hot springs in the south, this one is a lot hotter. You should not dive right away because there is a need for your body to adjust to its temperature, that’s me, I wonder if others are used to this kind of heat. Taking some time down this salt water springs which is heated by a volcano, is like getting a hot spa and the effect is so relaxing. It is recommended to include this place in your iterinary late in the afternoon, then get back to your hotel and have a tight sleep.
5. Twin Peaks and Lagoon, Siete Pecados and the Calamianes group of Islands – after your tour in Kayangan Lake, these places are just around the corner. You can enjoy your diving, viewing of corals and colorful fishes. If you have excess bread or rice, you can already invite nemo and variety of fishes to come up and play around. For divers, great view and history deep down the sea floors where shipwrecks can be found. – jho
